Insta360 X6 Debuts With Larger Sensors and 8K/50fps Recording

The X6 achieves a more pocketable form factor by trimming an inch off the height of its predecessor, despite a slight increase in width and thickness. While the physical touchscreen has shrunk to 2.32 inches, it transitions to OLED technology for better clarity. Internally, the hardware marks a significant shift: the new sensors provide 33 percent more area than the X5, paired with dedicated imaging chips to enhance low-light performance. It also stands as the first 360-degree camera to support in-camera Dolby Vision, ensuring precise HDR metadata capture.

Versatility remains a core focus, with the camera capable of 6K/120fps or 4K/240fps in Bullet Time mode, alongside 120-megapixel 360-degree still photography. Power efficiency has seen a notable boost; the 2,600mAh battery delivers up to 140 minutes of 8K recording, a 51 percent increase over the previous generation. Users can further extend this runtime using the optional Power Selfie Stick accessory. Beyond the hardware, Insta360 is leaning into automation with PanoMind, an AI model that generates highlight reels automatically while the camera charges.
