Executives at Pegatron, a key assembly partner, confirmed the shift during a recent earnings call. The adjustment stems from persistent constraints in memory and chip procurement. Rather than attempting to meet a singular high-volume deadline, Apple is prioritizing its high-margin flagship devices to maximize available component inventory. This strategy aligns with long-standing industry speculation from analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo and reports from The Information regarding a move toward premium-only autumn launches.
Alongside the Pro series, the company is expected to debut its much-discussed foldable device this fall. The base iPhone 18, the budget-focused iPhone 18e, and the rumored iPhone Air are now expected to reach consumers in early 2027.
