Cloud Adoption Accelerates AI Gap in Physical Security
Organizations leveraging cloud-based physical security are deploying artificial intelligence at 2.6 times the rate of those reliant on traditional on-premise systems. This widening disparity underscores a fundamental shift in how global enterprises manage infrastructure, as legacy hardware struggles to keep pace with modern, integrated software capabilities.
The 2026 State of Cloud Physical Security report, which surveyed 2,700 IT and security leaders across 10 global markets, highlights a clear trajectory toward modernization. While 80% of organizations report engagement with AI, adoption remains fragmented: 39% are currently piloting new features, while 41% have moved into active implementation. For the laggards, the pressure to pivot is mounting, with 94% of non-cloud-managed firms now planning or actively transitioning to cloud-based platforms.
Beyond basic surveillance, security departments are increasingly repurposing video data to drive broader operational efficiency. Companies are deploying these tools to monitor workplace health and safety compliance, optimize space utilization, and streamline internal operations. As AI integration deepens, the divide between modernized infrastructure and static, on-premise systems is expected to define the competitive landscape for building security and management.
