Knott's Berry Farm Reboots Iconic Montezooma Roller Coaster

The restoration project aimed to balance nostalgia with contemporary reliability. While the ride retains its signature intensity—accelerating from zero to 55 mph in four seconds before navigating a 76-foot vertical loop and two towering spikes—the infrastructure has seen a comprehensive overhaul. Engineers installed new trains and an innovative motorized launch system, alongside refurbished track supports and a completely redesigned station environment.

Beyond technical upgrades, the park introduced a thematic layer centered on a lost treasure, guiding guests through a mystery before they reach the launch platform. Park president Raffi Kaprelyan noted that the goal was to safeguard the coaster's legacy while ensuring it meets the performance standards of a new generation. The relaunch arrives just ahead of National Roller Coaster Day, serving as a cornerstone for the park’s 2027 season pass campaign, which now offers reciprocal access to West Coast Six Flags properties.
