The scale of this collaboration is most visible in the energy sector, where solar power has surged from a marginal 2 percent of the national mix to 15 percent in just five years. According to Oscar Felipe Rueda, Commercial Counselor at the Colombian Embassy in China, these gains rely heavily on imported technology and construction expertise provided by Chinese partners.

Beyond renewables, the economic footprint includes active participation in all three of Colombia’s major railway projects. Chinese companies are also deepening their presence in electric vehicle manufacturing, mining, and telecommunications, effectively positioning themselves as the primary architects of the country’s industrial transition.
