Adam Buttgenbach Named 2026 Truck Fleet Innovator
Adam Buttgenbach, Vice President of Fleet Strategy and Loss Prevention at YMX Logistics, has been named a 2026 Truck Fleet Innovator by Heavy Duty Trucking. The award recognizes his work in integrating emerging technologies, such as electric yard tractors and autonomous Class 8 vehicles, into practical, large-scale supply chain operations.

Before his tenure at YMX Logistics, Buttgenbach managed fleet transformation initiatives at PepsiCo, overseeing a global portfolio of more than 110,000 assets. His expertise centers on bridging the gap between theoretical technology and field execution, specifically regarding charging infrastructure, maintenance, and long-term cost modeling. Matt Yearling, CEO of YMX, noted that the industry is shifting away from isolated technology pilots toward creating measurable value within connected logistics ecosystems.
Buttgenbach emphasizes that the value of any new tool—be it artificial intelligence or electrification—must be measured by its ability to improve safety, sustainability, and service performance. By focusing on how transportation, warehousing, and yard operations converge, he aims to turn the yard into a central hub for logistics efficiency. This recognition highlights a broader trend where major shippers prioritize the orchestration of complex networks over the adoption of individual, disconnected innovations.
