Fairphone 6 Refines Modularity with Swappable Accessories

Nearly two years after its last major hardware release, Fairphone has debuted the Fairphone 6, a more compact and modular smartphone. The device drops weight while increasing battery capacity, introducing a new ecosystem of swappable rear accessories alongside a refined, repair-friendly design that keeps physical longevity at the forefront.

The Fairphone 6 is 9 percent lighter than its predecessor and houses a 4,415mAh battery, accessible for replacement by removing just seven screws. This power cell sustains up to 53 hours of use. Beyond internal repairs, the chassis now supports modular add-ons, specifically a card holder and finger loop that snap onto the back. Under the hood, the device relies on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage.

Visuals are handled by a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display. While slightly smaller than the screen on the previous model, it upgrades the refresh rate to 120Hz. Photography capabilities include a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens on the rear, complemented by a 32MP front-facing camera. European customers can purchase the phone in black, green, or white for €599. In the United States, Murena handles distribution with a de-Googled /e/OS version of the software, available for preorder at $899 with deliveries slated for August.
