Shanghai-based CARsgen Therapeutics has achieved a significant regulatory milestone with the NMPA approval of satri-cel, marking it as the world’s first CAR T-cell therapy cleared for solid tumor treatment. The company reported RMB62 million in revenue for the first half of 2026, primarily driven by its BCMA-targeting product, zevor-cel. Commercial efforts, bolstered by a partnership with Huadong Medicine, have secured 110 confirmed orders during this period. Financially, CARsgen remains stable with RMB1,400 million in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, a reserve the firm expects will support operations through 2030.

Beyond current commercial products, the firm is aggressively expanding its R&D portfolio. The NMPA recently granted IND approvals for two allogeneic candidates, CT0596 and CT1190B, both developed under the company's proprietary THANK-u Plus platform. Simultaneously, CARsgen has initiated an investigator-initiated trial for its in vivo CAR T-cell candidate, KJ-C2529, as part of a broader strategy to move into earlier lines of treatment and diversify its therapeutic reach. CEO Zonghai Li noted that the focus remains on leveraging these technological advancements to improve accessibility and address unmet medical needs in both domestic and international markets.
