ID Dataweb Adds Community Verification and KYB to Identity Security
Retailers and service providers face an estimated 2.2% annual revenue loss due to promotion abuse, prompting ID Dataweb to integrate community affiliation checks directly with identity threat detection. The new platform capabilities aim to verify eligibility for specialized programs while simultaneously flagging synthetic identities and account takeovers.
The Centreville-based identity firm is expanding its toolset to combat both promotion fraud and business impersonation. By merging community verification—such as confirming military or first responder status—with real-time risk scoring, organizations can secure exclusive discounts without relying on flawed, static validation methods. This approach allows companies to assess the legitimacy of an individual and their credentials in a single workflow.
Beyond consumer-facing programs, the platform addresses the rising threat of business identity theft, which cost consumers nearly $1 billion in 2025 according to Federal Trade Commission data. Traditional KYB checks often fail to confirm whether an applicant is authorized to act on behalf of a registered entity. ID Dataweb now combines entity validation, beneficial ownership screening, and corporate affiliation checks to ensure that digital transactions occur between verified individuals and legitimate businesses. COO Matt Cochran noted that the goal is to balance user access with rigorous security, preventing fraudulent actors from exploiting programs intended for verified communities.
