Mile High Flea Market Celebrates Half-Century Milestone

A giant piñata shaped like a flea and a live mariachi serenade will transform a Henderson institution on August 29, 2026. As Mile High Flea Market marks its 50th anniversary, the 80-acre venue aims to trade its typical weekend commerce for a community-wide birthday bash dedicated to its long-standing mascot.

The festivities run from 10 AM to 2 PM, centering on the birthday of Freddie the Flea. Visitors can expect a packed schedule, including face painting, caricature artists, and a comedy show hosted by Put on Events. The celebration complements the market’s usual layout of 3,000 sellers and food vendors, which has served the Denver area since 1976.

Matt Dupuie, VP of Marketing for United Flea Markets, noted that the event honors the families, vendors, and small businesses that define the landmark. Admission is priced at $3, while children under eight can enter free of charge. Located at 7007 E 88th Ave in Henderson, the market remains the largest open-air shopping destination in the Rocky Mountain region.
