Phoenix Veteran Wins HVAC System in Senior Citizens Day Giveaway
Louis Pizano, a 73-year-old Army veteran and retiree, has been selected to receive a brand-new heating and cooling system. The initiative, spearheaded by Parker & Sons and Goodman, aims to provide essential relief to local seniors struggling with Arizona’s punishing summer heat on fixed incomes.

Pizano’s 18-year-old unit failed on a Sunday, leaving him to attempt repairs himself. His daughter, Lisa, submitted the winning nomination, highlighting his three-decade career with Union Pacific Railroad and his personal victory over thyroid cancer. The companies will complete the professional installation this Friday, August 21, to coincide with National Senior Citizens Day.
Bob Cannon, vice president of sales for Parker & Sons, noted that the giveaway serves to honor those who have spent their lives working and serving the country. For the company, which has operated in the Phoenix area for over 50 years, reliable climate control represents a fundamental safety requirement rather than a luxury during triple-digit temperatures. Goodman Territory Sales Manager Ashley Adams echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the partnership's commitment to ensuring the comfort of community members in need.
