LG Scales Fit & Max Design Strategy Across Home Appliance Lineup

LG Electronics is expanding its Fit & Max design framework beyond refrigerators to include washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers. Debuting at IFA 2026 in Berlin, the initiative aims to reconcile the demand for space-efficient, flush-fit installations with the performance requirements of modern European households.

The strategy centers on two pillars: Fit Space, which uses specialized hinges and flat-door mechanisms to eliminate gaps against cabinetry, and Max Life, which leverages internal structural engineering to maintain high capacity despite a smaller external footprint. By integrating these design principles across the kitchen and laundry portfolio, the company seeks to move away from the traditional trade-off between architectural integration and appliance capability.

At the dedicated Fit & Max zone in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin, the manufacturer will demonstrate how AI-driven features complement this hardware design. Refrigerators utilize AI Fresh to adapt to usage patterns, while laundry units employ AI Wash and AI Dry to automate cycle adjustments based on load specifics. Dishwashers feature a flush-fit aesthetic paired with AI SenseClean to monitor soil levels. According to Baek Seung-tae, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company, the expansion is a response to the growing density of living spaces, ensuring that high-performance appliances integrate naturally into domestic environments without sacrificing functionality.
