Baby Shark’s original dancer launches pop career with WAVE
Ten years after becoming a global icon in the Baby Shark Dance video, the performer known as Baby Shark Boy is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist. His debut single, WAVE, blends the familiar melody of his childhood fame with contemporary electropop and aggressive trap influences.
The project marks a transition for the performer, who grew up alongside the most-viewed video in YouTube history. Having helped propel the original clip to over 17.2 billion views, he is now leveraging that history to launch his own identity. The track features a guest appearance by JOOHONEY of MONSTA X and incorporates choreography by Young-jun Choi’s TEAM SAME, known for their work with BTS and SEVENTEEN. The dance routines bridge the gap between the viral moves of the past and modern K-pop sensibilities.
Beyond the release on major streaming platforms, The Pinkfong Company is preparing a documentary titled WAVE: Becoming Baby Shark Boy to chronicle his evolution. This effort precedes his planned appearance in a Baby Shark feature film scheduled for winter 2026. The artist described the single as a reflection of his journey, noting that while the original dance was the first wave he rode, this project represents his own definitive starting point.
