Yamaha and Steinberg Overhaul Production Ecosystem Software
Streamers and audio engineers gain expanded routing and deeper device integration following a major firmware rollout from Yamaha and Steinberg. The update affects the MGX mixer series, URX audio interfaces, and the CC1 controller, aiming to minimize technical setup time while standardizing workflows across the companies' shared production environment.

The latest software suite, headlined by Basic FX Suite V4.0, brings VST, AU, and AAX compatibility to onboard effects, allowing users to move processing tasks directly into their digital audio workstations. Preston Grey, director of consumer audio at Yamaha, noted that the enhancements focus on creating a more intuitive link between hardware and software, specifically targeting the bridge between physical mixers and Steinberg’s Cubase, Nuendo, and MixKey platforms.
Hardware improvements allow for faster deployment, with URX interfaces now featuring ready-to-use default settings upon power-on. MGX users gain expanded control through the SOUND PAD Editor and microSD card storage for console presets. The CC1 USB controller also receives a significant boost in responsiveness, with added support for direct MixKey integration. Looking ahead, the companies have scheduled further capabilities for Winter 2026, including 12-band Flex Graphic EQ, channel copying, and a console lock function to prevent accidental setting changes during live sessions.
