Google Discover introduces AI-driven feed customization

Users will soon gain granular control over their Google Discover feeds by describing their content preferences to a built-in AI chatbot. Rolling out to the Google app over the coming days, this interface allows for conversational adjustments to recommended articles, fundamentally shifting how the engine learns individual interests.

To access the new tool, users tap the three-dot menu within the Discover feed to trigger a chat-style prompt. After a user describes their desired topics, the system confirms its interpretation and lists the types of content it will prioritize. If the results miss the mark, users can provide additional clarifying information before selecting the "Refresh your feed" button to apply the changes. The system retains these preferences, allowing for a personalized experience that adapts over time based on specific user requests rather than just passive browsing history.

Beyond Discover, Google is expanding personalization across its ecosystem. The Google News app on Android now supports custom audio briefings, letting users curate the specific topics they want to hear daily. Additionally, the company is streamlining its Preferred Sources feature. Publishers can now embed a direct button on their own websites, allowing readers to add an outlet to their priority list for Search and AI Overviews without needing to navigate through complex settings menus.
