Denarius Metals Secures Trafigura Backing for Copper Giant Stake
Denarius Metals has solidified its position in the mining sector through a dual-transaction strategy, acquiring a 15.34% stake in Copper Giant Resources while simultaneously closing a private placement with Urion Investments, a subsidiary of global commodities trader Trafigura.

The deal saw Denarius Metals invest CA$28.8 million to secure 40 million common shares of Copper Giant at CA$0.72 per share. As part of the expansion, Denarius CEO Federico Restrepo-Solano joins the advisory board at Copper Giant, which is currently focused on developing the Mocoa copper-molybdenum deposit in Colombia.
To fund this acquisition, Denarius completed a private placement with Urion Investments, raising CA$28.81 million. Through this financing, Trafigura increased its stake in Denarius Metals to approximately 14.79%, holding 74,576,282 common shares and 19,175,000 warrants. The company maintains that these holdings are for investment purposes, with Trafigura signaling potential for future adjustments to its position based on market conditions.
