Grow Therapy Challenges the Crisis-Only Mental Health Narrative

Seventy-three percent of adults who recognize a need for mental health support forgo it, often believing they should manage their struggles independently. Grow Therapy is now countering this 'breaking point' mentality with its new national campaign, Key Change, which reframes therapy as a tool for everyday personal growth.

The campaign features four musical films that move away from traditional before-and-after tropes. Instead of focusing on crises, the creative work highlights subtle shifts in behavior: a father choosing empathy, a couple opting for conversation over silence, or an individual managing their ruminations. By using original music that evolves alongside the characters, the films illustrate how therapy builds the self-awareness required to navigate common life challenges.

Marshall Ball, SVP of Marketing at Grow Therapy, notes that the initiative aims to dismantle the stigma that therapy is exclusively for when life falls apart. Developed in partnership with the creative agency KDSP, the project emphasizes that therapy creates compounding emotional progress rather than immediate, dramatic fixes. The campaign is currently airing across 20 markets on television and streaming platforms, showcasing the platform's accessibility through insurance-covered care. With a network of 27,000 providers, Grow Therapy seeks to normalize the pursuit of mental health support as a proactive choice rather than a last resort.
