LB Capital Targets $30 Million Raise to Scale Litigation Finance
Jersey City-based LB Capital is launching a $30 million institutional capital raise to accelerate its litigation finance platform, aiming to increase origination capacity following a period of steady growth throughout the first half of 2026.

The company’s expansion strategy follows a $500,000 equity injection from Founder and CEO Dr. Peter Caravella, which bolstered the firm's balance sheet. LB Capital plans to leverage its decade-long partnership with Legal-Bay Funding, a national originator, to deploy the new capital. According to Legal-Bay CEO Chris Janish, the infusion of institutional funds is projected to drive a 30% increase in origination sales over the next three years.
Management is currently finalizing an investment package featuring portfolio performance data and financial summaries. Discussions with private credit funds, family offices, and investment banks are scheduled to commence in September. The firm expects to close the transaction before the end of 2026, directing the proceeds toward enhanced technology, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded funding capacity for plaintiffs across the United States.
