Mynd.ai Launches Privacy-Focused AI Tools for Classrooms
Alpharetta-based Mynd.ai is integrating artificial intelligence into its Promethean hardware, aiming to boost engagement in schools and corporate offices. By prioritizing local data processing, the company hopes to offer measurable classroom insights while sidestepping the privacy concerns that often stall the adoption of new educational technology.
The new suite of tools centers on two primary releases scheduled for the fourth quarter: the Engage Meter and the Promethean Companion. The Engage Meter, compatible with macOS and Windows, provides real-time feedback on audience attention levels. To address security, the system processes all personal information directly on the user’s device, ensuring that no sensitive data is transmitted to third-party servers. Alongside this, the Promethean Companion for ActivSuite and Explain Everything will offer automated administrative support, intended to handle setup and preparation tasks so educators can dedicate more time to instruction.
Promethean Chief Technology Officer Lance Solomon emphasized that the development strategy avoids speculative AI features in favor of immediate, practical utility. These tools are designed to fold into existing workflows within the company’s ActivSuite and Explain Everything platforms, minimizing the technical friction usually associated with new software rollouts. By keeping data local and focusing on workflow integration, Mynd.ai seeks to balance the demand for smart classroom analytics with the rigorous privacy standards required by educational institutions.
