Dr. Rama Kondru has been named CEO of The Emmes Group, a move signaling the firm’s aggressive pivot toward integrating artificial intelligence into its clinical trial infrastructure. After leading the company’s Veridix data division since 2024, Kondru now takes command of the nearly 50-year-old organization to accelerate biomedical discovery.
Kondru arrives at a transition point for the Rockville-based company, which has historically focused on scientific rigor for public health programs, including long-standing NIH infectious disease research and COVID-19 initiatives. The board’s decision prioritizes his background in scaling technology platforms to modernize the firm’s legacy clinical services. He aims to merge the company's established research expertise with AI-driven methodologies to reduce the time required to bring therapies to market.
His credentials include a tenure as Co-CEO of Medidata Solutions and executive roles at Janssen Americas, UCB Pharma, and F. Hoffmann-La Roche. With 25 years of experience spanning academia and global healthcare technology, Kondru is tasked with unifying the company’s specialized business units—including Emmes Government CRO and OptymEdge—under a cohesive, technology-first strategy. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
