Jamie Lee Curtis to Receive Inaugural Reiner Champion for Change Award

The award will be presented during the Children's Institute’s (CII) Cape & Gown Gala, scheduled for November 8 at The Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. Created in collaboration with Jake and Romy Reiner, the honor serves to preserve the legacy of Michele and Rob Reiner, who spent decades championing early childhood development and civil rights. Their impact includes the creation of First 5 California, an initiative that has directed over $12.5 billion toward early childhood health and education.

Martine Singer, President and CEO of Children's Institute, noted that the award reflects the organization’s 120-year commitment to family equity. For the inaugural recipient, the selection of Curtis underscores a shared history of philanthropy. Beyond her acclaimed acting career, Curtis has authored 14 children's books and founded the charitable initiative My Hand In Yours, which has generated nearly $2 million for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Reflecting on the honor, Curtis described the Reiners' life of service as a model for building something greater than oneself, adding that she is grateful to help carry their legacy forward.
