Apple Updates Mac Mini with M6 and M5 Pro Chips
Apple has refreshed its Mac Mini lineup, introducing the M6 and M5 Pro chips alongside a $100 price increase across the board. While the compact chassis remains unchanged from the previous generation, the new models debut Apple’s first 2nm silicon and expanded support for modern connectivity standards.
The entry-level M6 model now features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, delivering a reported 40 percent boost in processing power over the M4 generation. By shifting to a 2nm process, the M6 architecture utilizes two super cores, four performance cores, and six efficiency cores. The higher-end M5 Pro variant offers up to 18 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores, maintaining a 307GBps memory bandwidth designed to handle intensive AI workloads and complex diffusion models. Storage speeds have also been doubled across all configurations.
Connectivity receives a notable upgrade with the inclusion of 2.5 gigabit ethernet ports and the integration of the N1 chip, which provides Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 compatibility. The M6 model features Thunderbolt 4 rear ports, while the M5 Pro version steps up to Thunderbolt 5. All units ship with macOS 27 Golden Gate preloaded, ensuring out-of-the-box integration with the latest Siri and Apple Intelligence features. Preorders are open now, with retail shipping scheduled for September 22nd.
