GuliKit’s Switch 2 dock prioritizes stability over portability

The dock is an all-plastic construction finished to resemble brushed aluminum. While the initial tactile experience of its lightweight frame might disappoint those expecting premium metal, the weight reduction serves a practical purpose for anyone managing luggage capacity. Its design features a square puck shape with rounded edges, angled slightly backward to ensure the console remains stable during accidental bumps or hotel room setups.

Functionality is centered on a rear I/O panel featuring a 4K/60Hz HDMI port, a USB-A port for peripheral charging, and a USB-C input supporting 100W power delivery. Unlike competitors that integrate a power brick directly into the wall plug, GuliKit requires the user to supply their own adapter. For those already carrying high-wattage chargers for laptops or phones, this is a minor inconvenience offset by the price difference. The unit also includes a dedicated button to toggle off video output, allowing it to function solely as a charging stand.

Minor design flaws persist, particularly with a magnetic cover intended to act as an extended backrest; its weak magnets frequently dislodge inside a backpack. Additionally, a three-position sliding switch on the underside—marketed to accommodate consoles in protective cases—proves largely ineffective, offering only negligible adjustments to the USB-C connector's angle. Despite these shortcomings, the device succeeds as a cost-effective alternative to Nintendo’s $124.99 official hardware, providing a reliable way to connect to multiple displays without the bulk or price tag of traditional docking solutions.
