Wyze launches $40 indoor camera with a retractable privacy lens

The new hardware features 360-degree rotation and a 103-degree vertical tilt, offering a 2K resolution upgrade over the entry-level 1080p models in the company's lineup. While it sits at a lower price point than the $44.98 Cam Pan v3, it lacks that model's IP65 water resistance and wider 180-degree tilt range. The device relies on a wall outlet for power and supports flexible placement via an optional wall mount or a standalone base.

Wyze integrated a quieter motor alongside AI-driven motion tracking capable of filtering out robot vacuums or activity outside of user-defined detection zones. In low-light environments, the camera utilizes infrared LEDs for night vision, though frame rates dip from 20fps to 15fps. Users can store footage locally on a microSD card up to 512GB and interact with the room through a built-in microphone and speaker, which also doubles as a 95-decibel alarm.
