Trafalgar Launches Brokerage to Open Mexican Markets to Mid-Sized Firms
Mexico City’s financial landscape shifted today as the Trafalgar Group unveiled TRF Casa de Bolsa, a new securities brokerage designed to streamline capital market access for mid-market companies. The launch, anchored at the BIVA stock exchange, coincides with the appointment of industry veteran Carlos Septién Michel as Group CEO.

Trafalgar’s strategy leverages the 2023 reform to the Mexican Securities Law, utilizing the simplified registration regime to reduce the time and costs associated with market entry. By positioning itself as a specialist in simplified equity and debt issuances, the firm aims to bridge the gap between mid-sized enterprises and institutional investors. The brokerage arm, acquired and rebranded under the leadership of Chairman Porfirio Sánchez Talavera, will function as a platform rather than a mere license, focusing on underwriting and execution across domestic and international markets.
Carlos Septién Michel, who brings over 45 years of executive experience to the role, will oversee the group’s integrated ecosystem, which includes the Trafalgar SOFIPO banking unit and the Trafalgar Pay cross-border payment platform. Looking beyond domestic borders, the group has acquired a U.S.-listed reporting issuer to be rebranded as Trafalgar International, signaling long-term ambitions to pursue public listings in both the United States and Mexico. This expansion remains distinct from the group’s Mexican operations, maintaining a separate regulatory and legal perimeter for client assets.
