Allegion Launches Schlage XE360 Series with Persistent Wi-Fi Connectivity

Historically, wireless access control relied on periodic check-ins, with devices waking up only on set schedules to sync with a network. Allegion’s RealSync protocol disrupts this standard by enabling a continuous, cloud-to-cloud connection. This allows administrators to perform instant remote lock or unlock commands, receive immediate monitoring alerts, and manage credentials in real time from any location.

A central component of this release is the interchangeable FleX module. This design allows facilities currently using offline XE360 hardware to upgrade to persistent Wi-Fi connectivity without replacing the entire lock assembly. Beyond hardware flexibility, the system supports over-the-air firmware updates, reducing the need for on-site maintenance visits. Nate Spitz, general manager of Schlage locks and access solutions, described the development as a seismic shift that breaks traditional cost and complexity barriers.

Operational efficiency is further bolstered by advancements in power management. While many Wi-Fi-enabled locks struggle to maintain power for more than six months, the XE360 series extends battery life to over one year using four standard AA batteries. By removing the requirement for hubs and door service routers, the system lowers upfront capital expenditures for both new construction and retrofit projects. Early integration efforts are already underway, with Brivo slated to be the first partner to offer a fully integrated RealSync solution to its security ecosystem.
