LeanDNA Debuts Demand Scenario Modeling to Replace Spreadsheet Planning

Production planners frequently rely on manual spreadsheets to assess if manufacturing capacity meets shifting demand, a process often riddled with errors and outdated data. Austin-based LeanDNA is now moving to automate this cycle, launching a new Demand Scenario Modeling capability within its APEX platform to provide real-time feasibility testing.

The new tool allows supply chain managers to simulate demand changes against live Bill of Materials and ERP data. By operating within a secure sandbox environment, teams can stress-test multiple scenarios—adjusting quantities and timelines—without the risk of corrupting live system records or requiring time-consuming data exports. This transition shifts a process that typically consumes hours of manual analysis into a workflow completed in minutes.

According to LeanDNA CEO Andy Ellenthal, the goal is to eliminate the trade-off between speed and system integrity. The platform is designed specifically for the one-to-twelve-month planning window, where tactical decisions regarding production commitments are most critical. By replacing speculative guesswork with grounded, data-driven insights, the software aims to clarify actual constraints and reduce the false shortages that often plague traditional planning methods. The feature is currently available to all APEX customers, serving manufacturers across the aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors.
