Monod Bio Licenses AI-Designed Protein Tools to SignalChem Biotech
Seattle-based protein design firm Monod Bio has entered a non-exclusive licensing agreement with SignalChem Biotech, a subsidiary of Sino Biological. The deal grants SignalChem access to proprietary luciferase technology and synthetic binding proteins, aiming to accelerate the development of custom discovery assays for global research customers.

Under the terms of the agreement, SignalChem will integrate Monod Bio’s LuxSit de novo luciferase and NovoBodies into its existing protein-fusion and assay services. The collaboration marks a strategic shift for Sino Biological as it incorporates AI-enabled tools into its broader portfolio of life science research services. Dr. Rob Burgess, Chief Business Officer of Sino Biological, noted that the technology will assist researchers in securing high-quality discovery candidates with greater efficiency when addressing complex biological questions.
Monod Bio’s LuxSit platform provides robust luminescent biosensors, while its NovoBodies offer compact, stable protein structures for target recognition. CEO Daniel Silva Manzano described the partnership as a validation of the company's Monod Inside business model, which focuses on embedding AI-generated proteins directly into commercial laboratory offerings. While the deal expands the reach of both entities, Sino Biological indicated that the revenue impact from this specific agreement is not expected to materially alter the company’s overall financial performance.
