AWIP Scales Data Center Division Amid AI-Driven Construction Boom
With data center construction demand hitting 15 million square feet of installed product since 2023, All Weather Insulated Panels is shifting its strategy to prioritize hyperscale projects. The Vacaville-based manufacturer is expanding its resources and manufacturing capacity to address the industry's tightening timelines and sustainability mandates.
The surge in AI infrastructure has forced a shift in how developers approach facility construction. AWIP President Joe Paparella noted that demand for high-performance envelopes has moved into overdrive, prompting the company to consolidate its focus on the digital infrastructure sector. By leveraging three U.S.-based manufacturing facilities, the firm aims to mitigate the intense schedule pressure currently defining the North American market.
Central to this expansion is the adoption of the company's OneDek system. The patented, all-in-one roof deck assembly replaces five traditional components, a design choice intended to trim labor costs and shorten construction cycles. Beyond speed, the company is positioning its product line to satisfy the strict ESG requirements of tech hyperscalers. Materials like the InnovaCELL, which uses recycled PET content, and the OneDek system, which offers 20% lower embodied carbon than standard assemblies, serve as key tools for developers aiming to hit documented carbon reduction targets by 2030.
