Knack Bridges AI Development and HIPAA Compliance with MCP Server
Erie-based no-code platform Knack has launched an MCP Server, allowing developers to connect AI coding assistants directly to a production-ready, secure data layer. The integration removes the need for manual infrastructure setup, enabling users of tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Replit to deploy applications in regulated industries without sacrificing compliance standards.
The new server architecture addresses a primary bottleneck for AI-assisted development: the inability to meet strict security requirements for enterprise and healthcare clients. By providing a scalable relational database with built-in role-based access controls and record change logs, Knack enables builders to bypass traditional server management. Through the Knack Health initiative, the platform offers specific HIPAA-compliant configurations, including signed Business Associate Agreements, to support sensitive data handling.
CEO Derek Hutson noted that compliance has historically served as a ceiling for AI-driven projects, often requiring prohibitive infrastructure budgets. This release aims to democratize production-ready deployment by integrating security features directly into the developer workflow. The service is available immediately to all Knack customers, with a free trial period provided for new users to test the integration with their preferred AI coding tools.
