Creative Educators Network Sets 2026 Burbank Institute Program

The three-day gathering, running from September 23 to 25, kicks off with the third annual Mitchell McClung Awards. This year, the honors recognize Julia Pinhey, a visual and performing arts director at Santa Susana High School, and Sony Pictures Entertainment for their work in preparing students for professional careers. The ceremony will also include a posthumous tribute to producer and record executive Herb Trawick, acknowledging his instrumental role in shaping the CA-AED standards and his influence on music industry pathways.

Beyond the awards, the program offers educators direct access to major creative hubs. Friday field trips are scheduled at facilities including Disney Live Entertainment, Nickelodeon, the Sony Digital Media Production Center, and IATSE Local 80. These sessions aim to provide teachers with practical insights and professional tools to bring back to their classrooms. According to Ashley Adams, executive director of the network, the event focuses on industry alignment and ensuring that current students can effectively transition into the workforce.
