Tulum Renace: A New Cultural Blueprint for Mexico’s Tourism

A high-profile partnership between UN Tourism, UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, and Mexican developers Inmobilia and Thor Urbana is set to reshape Tulum’s economic future. The alliance anchors the government-backed 'Tulum Renace' initiative, placing a new 57-key hotel and creative hub at the center of a destination-wide cultural transformation.

Opening in early December 2026, the UMusic Hotel & Beach Club Tulum serves as the flagship for this strategy. Rather than functioning as a standalone resort, the property acts as a creative engine, featuring recording studios and production facilities designed to host a year-round calendar of live events, film productions, and artist collaborations. The project is managed by UMusic Beach Clubs & Lifestyle, a joint venture between UMusic Hospitality and the IMI Group, which aims to leverage global entertainment expertise to drive consistent regional tourism.

This initiative marks the first implementation in Mexico of a memorandum between UN Tourism and the Center for Music Ecosystems. By integrating local talent with international platforms—including a strategic collaboration with the electronic music brand Zamna—the project seeks to transition Tulum from a traditional vacation spot into a hub for active cultural creation. The goal is to distribute economic benefits across the local hospitality and service sectors, ensuring that the development supports restaurants, retailers, and tour operators throughout the year.
