Boulware Mission Expands Owensboro Recovery Capacity

With a $50,000 infusion from PMI U.S., the century-old Boulware Mission is launching a facility-wide renovation to bolster its residential treatment capacity. The project targets an immediate expansion of its transitional living wing, aiming to provide more men in the Owensboro region with stable housing and clinical support services.

Since its founding in 1921, the organization has served as a cornerstone for men navigating substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Currently, the mission supports approximately 185 individuals annually, offering a blend of counseling, workforce development, and structured recovery housing. The new investment marks a significant upgrade to the facility’s infrastructure, beginning with the renovation of a second-floor bathroom scheduled for completion in September 2026.

Executive Director Shane Sheriff noted that the upgrades are essential to strengthening the continuum of care as regional demand for addiction recovery services rises. This phase paves the way for the refurbishment of 17 additional living spaces, which will directly increase the program's intake capacity. PMI U.S. has been a consistent benefactor, contributing over $250,000 to the mission since 2025 to help sustain these long-term independence and stability programs.
