Sony Targets Midrange Market With New Bravia 6 OLED Series

After surfacing in a mounting compatibility chart earlier this summer, Sony has officially unveiled the Bravia 6 OLED, a new display series designed to challenge the dominance of Samsung and LG in the mid-tier television segment across five distinct sizes ranging from 48 to 83 inches.

The Bravia 6 slots into Sony’s current lineup beneath the premium Bravia 8 and Bravia 9 series, aiming directly at competitors like the LG C6 and Samsung S90H. The panels feature a 120Hz refresh rate and run on Google TV with integrated Gemini AI assistance. Connectivity includes four HDMI 2.1 ports, though Sony remains tight-lipped on whether these utilize the MediaTek Pentonic 800 SoC, a prerequisite for Dolby Vision 2 functionality. The hardware also provides support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X.

Alongside the panel, Sony introduced a redesigned remote control. The layout shifts streaming service buttons to the top and centralizes the directional pad, flanked by dedicated settings and home controls. Pricing begins at $1,300 for the 48-inch model, scaling to $1,500 for the 55-inch, $2,000 for the 65-inch, $3,000 for the 77-inch, and topping out at $4,000 for the 83-inch version.
