SpyGlass Pharma Opens New Irvine Headquarters to Scale Operations
SpyGlass Pharma has officially opened a 33,000-square-foot headquarters in Irvine, California, marking a homecoming for the biotech firm. The move follows a successful February 2026 IPO that raised $172.5 million, providing the company with the necessary capital to scale its workforce and prepare for a pending product launch.
The new facility accommodates a 33% increase in headcount, bringing the company’s total staff to more than 85 employees. CEO Patrick Mooney noted that the central location is vital as the firm transitions from research and development into commercializing its sustained drug delivery system for chronic eye conditions. The company previously operated out of Aliso Viejo after its initial founding in 2019.
Irvine Mayor Larry Agran welcomed the return of the company, citing the move as evidence of the city's status as a hub for the life sciences sector. COO James Dennewill emphasized that the expanded R&D space and proximity to regional research talent are essential for advancing the firm's pipeline, which includes non-bioerodible technology capable of delivering established medications directly to the eye.
