Leaked DLSS 5 files trigger unofficial AI modding surge
A mysterious leak of Nvidia’s unreleased DLSS 5 code has sparked a wave of unofficial experimentation, as modders successfully inject the AI-driven 'Neural Rendering' tech into titles ranging from Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077 to GTA V, bypassing official release cycles to force high-fidelity effects into legacy and modern engines alike.

The breakthrough originated within the RenoDX Discord community, where members extracted the proprietary file from an early-access build of NBA 2K27. By repurposing this neural rendering data, users are now applying real-time facial and texture enhancements to games that never supported the feature. In Control, toggling the 'Neural Uplift' preset drastically alters character models, shifting Jesse Faden’s appearance from a smooth, uniform aesthetic to one defined by aggressive shadow mapping and granular skin texture details.
Similar modifications are appearing across the wider gaming landscape. In GTA: San Andreas, the tech acts as a global filter, shifting lighting temperatures from warm to cool while sharpening environmental textures. The modding community has also extended these effects to Palworld, using the AI to manipulate shadow depth and contouring on stylized character models. While these implementations demonstrate the raw power of Nvidia’s latest upscaling architecture, the results remain experimental, often producing artifacts or unexpected tonal shifts that deviate significantly from the original game’s intended visual identity.
