LONGWELL FanWall Tech Cuts Data Center Cooling Energy by 38 Percent
A 38 percent reduction in fan energy consumption has been achieved by Ningbo-based manufacturer LONGWELL, as the company scales its EC FanWall technology to meet the extreme thermal demands of AI-driven data centers. The platform successfully outperformed traditional European alternatives, transitioning from initial design to mass production in just 90 days.

The breakthrough centers on the LWBE3G plug-fan platform, which the manufacturer deployed for a top-three global precision cooling OEM. By replacing legacy systems, the installation improved the CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) system’s PUE contribution from a 1.42 baseline to 1.28. Beyond energy efficiency, the hardware upgrade reduced noise levels by 6.5 dB(A) while maintaining zero field failures across the initial rollout.
This rapid deployment addresses a critical bottleneck as rack heat density surges from 15-20 kW to over 100 kW in modern AI infrastructure. While an incumbent European supplier projected a 20-month timeline for development and ramp-up, LONGWELL delivered engineering samples within 35 days. The company has since secured a multi-year agreement, with deliveries exceeding 80,000 units in 2025. CEO Bruce Li noted that at these power densities, fan selection is no longer a peripheral choice but a primary factor in determining whether a data center can reach its efficiency targets.
