Fosun Returns to Hong Kong to Report 160% Profit Surge
Fosun International returned to Hong Kong for its first in-person results presentation in six years, reporting a 160.3% year-on-year jump in profit to RMB1.72 billion for the first half of 2026. Chairman Guo Guangchang credited the recovery to years of strategic consolidation and a renewed focus on core industrial advantages.

The group reported total revenue of RMB86.96 billion for the period, with overseas markets accounting for 56.5% of that total. Four primary pillars—Fosun Pharma, Yuyuan, Fosun Insurance Portugal, and the tourism segment—drove 73.5% of the group's income. This performance marks a pivot toward what leadership describes as "repairing the roof on a sunny day," a strategy aimed at strengthening foundations before accelerating growth.
Innovation remains the group's primary engine, with R&D spending rising 16.7% to RMB4.2 billion. Co-CEO Chen Qiyu emphasized that the company is moving beyond simple product development to build a globally integrated commercialization system, particularly in biopharmaceuticals. This includes expanding its reach across China, the U.S., and emerging markets through a diverse pipeline of antibodies and cell therapies.
CFO Gong Ping confirmed that the company is actively trimming its asset portfolio and reducing debt levels to stabilize its credit rating. While the current profit growth is significant, Chairman Guo Guangchang signaled that the firm’s ambitions extend beyond the short-term target of returning to RMB10 billion in annual profit, focusing instead on long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.
