Domino's Challenges Fast-Food Giants With Giveaway Campaign

To prove its new Detroit-style pizza belongs among legendary fast-food icons, Domino's is bankrolling a $1 million giveaway. The company is inviting customers to trade receipts from competitors like McDonald's or Taco Bell for a free, single-serving 'Domino' pizza to see if it holds its own against established industry staples.

The promotion, dubbed Is the Domino Worthy?, marks a shift for the Ann Arbor-based chain as it attempts to position a personal-sized offering as a direct rival to the Big Mac or the Whopper. According to Kate Trumbull, the company’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, the product was designed to eliminate the need for sharing, allowing customers to customize their own portions without compromise.

Starting August 31, 2026, customers can upload receipts from specific competing items—including the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich or Chipotle Burrito—to the campaign website. Participants will receive a code for one free pizza on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The pizza itself features a rectangular, crispy Parmesan crust topped with two layers of cheese and signature garlic seasoning, cut into two slices. The offer period runs through September 30, or until the supply of 105,375 codes is exhausted.
