Provident Taps Industry Veteran Jay Engels for Midwest Technical Sales
After three decades navigating the complexities of the pressroom floor, Jay Engels is transitioning to the technical sales team at Provident, LLC. Based in Appleton, Wisconsin, the veteran specialist will oversee support operations across the Midwest and Central Plains, tasked with bridging the gap between hardware manufacturing and chemical performance.
Engels joins the organization following the 2025 merger of Provident and Precision Flexo & Gravure. His background spans nearly 35 years, including roles as an ink department manager, flexo plate mounter, and press operator at Press Color, Inc. This hands-on history informs his new mandate: helping clients diagnose persistent issues like ink leakage in chambers and maintaining print consistency during high-volume runs.
By integrating Engels’ expertise in liquid and offset inks, the company is shifting toward a more holistic model of pressroom consultation. Tim Allen, Director of Sales, stated that the internal team has already begun leveraging these insights to resolve technical imbalances. Engels will focus on training customer staff on ink maintenance, ensuring the interaction between doctor blades, end seals, and chemical applications remains optimized.
