National Police Association Challenges NYPD Dental Benefit Cuts

Eddie Hutchison, president of the NPA, warned that allowing these cuts to stand sets a dangerous precedent for the entire profession. The petition explicitly calls on the DEA Board of Officers and Trustees of the Health Benefit Fund to eliminate the new $1,000 premium requirement and restore the previous standards of care. The NPA asserts that the city must uphold its original bargain, noting that the physical toll of police work makes the reduction of promised medical support particularly damaging to those who have already completed their service.
