UpGuard Releases Free Toolset to Combat Shadow AI Risks
As unauthorized artificial intelligence tools infiltrate corporate networks, Mountain View-based cybersecurity firm UpGuard has launched a centralized hub of free diagnostic resources. The suite aims to provide lean security teams with immediate visibility into their digital footprints and vendor ecosystems without the burden of additional software costs.
The hub centers on an AI Policy Generator designed to help organizations establish formal adoption checklists and rollout guides in minutes, directly countering the rise of shadow AI. Beyond policy management, the platform offers instant security reports for thousands of companies, allowing users to verify vendor postures against industry standards including SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, and DORA.
Additional features include a website scanner to surface vulnerabilities before they can be exploited and an automated scoring engine that evaluates performance across eight key risk factors, such as SSL configuration and DNS health. According to Chief Marketing Officer Kaushik Sen, the initiative was developed to solve repetitive operational friction—like vetting new vendors or checking security headers—that often overwhelms under-resourced security departments. The full suite is now accessible through the company’s portal, coinciding with UpGuard’s virtual Summit conference for security leaders.
