DreamFace Robot Ryan Named Finalist for McKnight’s AI Excellence Award
A robotic companion designed to mitigate isolation in nursing homes has earned a spot as a finalist in the Creative Use of AI category at the 2026 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards, marking a significant milestone for Denver-based DreamFace Technologies in the senior care sector.
The Wellness Robot, known as Ryan, utilizes advanced facial recognition and natural language processing to provide companionship and entertainment for elderly residents. By integrating these features into daily care routines, the technology aims to augment the work of human caregivers and foster meaningful engagement within assisted living environments.
McKnight’s Publisher Brian O'Rourke noted that the awards program highlights innovations that redefine aging services as digital tools become increasingly embedded in clinical settings. DreamFace Technologies CEO Mohammad Mahoor stated that the recognition validates the company's commitment to expanding resident engagement offerings across care communities. The competition winners are scheduled to be revealed during a virtual industry event held on September 15 and 16.
