Russell Reynolds Associates Debuts The Leadership Lab
Russell Reynolds Associates is betting that data science can solve the perennial mystery of executive performance. The firm launched The Leadership Lab this week, an internal hub designed to merge proprietary behavioral data with artificial intelligence to help boards and CEOs move beyond intuition when selecting their top teams.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic research and board-level decision-making. By integrating leadership science with advanced analytics, the lab provides diagnostic tools and evidence-based models that move past traditional hiring metrics. Chief Science Officer Dr. Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic noted that while organizations are currently drowning in data, the primary hurdle remains the ability to synthesize that information into actionable strategy.
To ensure scientific rigor, the firm has assembled an Academic Advisory Board featuring experts from Harvard Business School, London Business School, and the University of Virginia. This team of behavioral scientists, data specialists, and leadership advisors will work directly with consultants to benchmark performance and assess executive potential. Director Gabrielle Lieberman emphasized that the lab focuses on translating complex research into practical outcomes, ensuring that the firm's advisory work is backed by quantifiable evidence rather than abstract theory.
