Peak Credit Union Launches $1 Million Matching Drive for Pickleball Complex

The initiative, branded as the Peak Community Challenge, aims to raise a total of $1 million to bridge the funding gap for the project. By matching every dollar donated by the community until December 31, the credit union intends to accelerate the timeline for a complex that includes two championship-level courts and ten covered playing areas. This effort builds on existing momentum, including $500,000 in support from Lane County voters and a $750,000 pledge from the City of Eugene.

Dr. David Tuyo II, CEO of Peak Credit Union, emphasized that the investment serves as a catalyst for local connectivity and long-term infrastructure. Beyond the recreational benefits, the facility is positioned to act as a significant economic driver. Travel Lane County estimates that a single regional tournament could generate $2.5 million in local spending, providing a steady influx of business for area hotels and retailers. The Emerald Valley Pickleball Foundation reports that current public court availability in the Eugene-Springfield area is frequently overwhelmed by demand, often leaving dozens of players waiting for access. Pending final permitting and fundraising milestones, the foundation expects the new complex to alleviate this congestion while establishing the region as a hub for competitive play.
