Olive Tree People Brings Waterless Beauty to Abbot Kinney
Thomas Lommel, founder of Olive Tree People, has opened his first U.S. flagship on Venice’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard. The space serves as a physical manifestation of his "From Tree to Beauty" philosophy, replacing the water typically found in cosmetic formulations with high-concentration olive leaf bioactive elixirs.

The 1335 Abbot Kinney location functions as both a retail space and an immersive environment. Designed by Jeremy Barbour of Tacklebox Architecture, the interior features 45,000 pounds of soil sourced from both Spain and Los Angeles, utilized in rammed-earth walls that mirror the Mediterranean groves where the company’s story began. At the center of the flagship is "Olive re:connect," an installation that translates the real-time biofeedback of an olive tree in Andalusia into an evolving soundscape for visitors.
Lommel’s approach challenges the industry standard of using water as a primary ingredient in skincare. By substituting olive-derived polyphenols, such as hydroxytyrosol, the brand claims to increase the concentration of active botanical ingredients. This concept has gained significant traction since the company entered the North American market in 2023, reporting $104.5 million in revenue during its second year. The Venice flagship will host workshops and personal consultations, further expanding a community that now includes over 70,000 consultants tasked with educating consumers on the efficacy of waterless formulations.
