Epson and STOPware Partner to Enhance Visitor Security with Color Badges
Color is becoming a frontline security tool as Epson and STOPware announce a partnership to integrate high-resolution, full-color badge printing into visitor management workflows. The collaboration aims to replace traditional, easily replicated monochrome IDs with dynamic, color-coded credentials designed for high-traffic environments like hospitals and schools.

The integration combines Epson’s ColorWorks on-demand label technology with the PassagePoint visitor management platform. By moving away from pre-printed badge stock, organizations can now produce badges that feature full-color photos, department-specific color coding, and custom branding in real time. This capability allows security personnel to instantly verify a visitor’s clearance level and authorized zone with a single glance, reducing the risk of human error at entry points.
Beyond visual identification, the system incorporates QR and barcodes to tighten the link between physical badges and digital access control logs. According to Michael Weitz, product manager for ColorWorks at Epson America, the move toward purposeful color use helps teams make faster, safer decisions in environments where identity verification is critical. STOPware COO Debbie Pendleton noted that the technology provides immediate visual clarity without creating bottlenecks at the front desk, ensuring that security policies remain current and enforceable for every visitor.
