Dell Revives XPS 13 as Budget Challenger
Dell is positioning its refreshed XPS 13 as a direct rival to entry-level laptops, launching the device in July with a promotional $599 price tag. While the offer targets back-to-school shoppers until September, the standard retail cost will climb to $699, placing it in a precarious spot against established competitors.

The new hardware claims the title of the thinnest and lightest XPS model to date, measuring 0.5 inches thick and weighing 2.2 pounds. Despite the slim profile, the design choices mirror those of its more expensive predecessors, featuring only two USB-C ports and omitting a 3.5mm audio jack entirely. This minimalist approach extends to higher-end configurations, which will eventually support Intel Panther Lake chips, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, and up to 32GB of RAM.
Matching the $599 introductory price of the MacBook Neo creates a clear tactical battleground for the company. However, with students currently able to secure Apple hardware for $100 less, Dell faces an uphill climb to justify the premium. Success for this iteration hinges on whether the hardware performance can effectively offset the lack of legacy ports and the higher standard pricing.
