DJI Expands Home Robotics with ROMO 2 Vacuum Series

Shenzhen-based drone giant DJI is entering the premium smart home market with the global launch of its ROMO 2 series, featuring the P2 and A2 models. The new units leverage proprietary drone-grade spatial perception and LiDAR technology to navigate complex household environments with millimeter-level obstacle avoidance.

The ROMO 2 series integrates advanced AI cleaning intelligence capable of distinguishing between debris and liquids. The hardware includes a 123-degree ultra-wide swing robotic arm that extends 7.8 cm further than its predecessor, allowing the device to clean under furniture and along baseboards with high precision. On carpeted surfaces, the system exerts 36,000 Pa of suction, while its mechanical design allows the robot to traverse single-step obstacles up to 4 cm high.

To address user privacy concerns, DJI is introducing a Local Data Mode, scheduled for release in Q4 2026. This feature allows users to sever the app's internet connection, ensuring that visual data used for navigation remains on the device. The units also feature a self-cleaning base station designed for a full year of maintenance-free operation, utilizing a nanocrystalline washboard and high-pressure water jets to manage debris.
