Dreame Challenges Action Camera Giants with 8K Leaptic Cube
At CES 2026, appliance manufacturer Dreame pivoted into high-end optics with the Leaptic Cube, a modular action camera capable of 8K resolution. By adopting a detachable design similar to the DJI Osmo Nano, the device allows users to separate the lens module from its 2.27-inch screen for versatile mounting options.
The Leaptic Cube utilizes a 1/1.3-inch sensor paired with a 155-degree wide-angle lens, hardware engineered to improve low-light performance. While 8K recording is capped at 30fps, the high pixel density offers users significant flexibility for post-production cropping and digital stabilization. Dropping to 4K resolution enables 60fps with HDR or 120fps for slow-motion sequences.
Functionality extends through a proprietary wireless system, allowing the camera module to stream a live preview to the display from up to 98 feet away. A magnetic external dock boosts total battery life to 220 minutes, while the dual-facing attachment mechanism simplifies selfie framing. Despite these technical specifications, Dreame has yet to disclose retail pricing or a specific release date for the product, leaving open questions about how it will compete against established players in the action camera market.
